Callaghan Equestrian Centre is a fully equipped indoor riding school in the heart of Ohariu Valley – just a 25 minute drive from Wellington City.
We offer horse riding lessons to beginners, experienced riders and competitive equestrian athletes – no matter what your discipline.
What we offer
Our experienced instructors are available 6 days a week for one to one and group tuition. Our staff and horses can cater for riders ranging from beginners to advanced, and for those wanting to specialise in show jumping or dressage.

An Introduction Lesson is required before entering into a Private or Group lesson on one of our horses. These assessments help us match the rider to the right horse and evaluate the rider for future group lessons.

Take your riding to the next level with our Private Lesson options catering to all levels. You can bring your own horse or ride one of ours.

Group lessons are fun, social and varied. 5 riders maximum per group. Must have had private lessons with one of our coaches before entering a group lesson. Pay for a whole term of lessons weekly or fortnightly.

Pony Group is focused on teaching riders to care for and ride ponies across a variety of disciplines to develop a well-rounded young rider.
$50/ 15 min
Your child will have a taste of the equestrian life riding one of our trusted ponies, led and supervised by one of our experienced instructors for 15 minutes. Ideal for children aged 3-7 years.
$150/ per day
For school aged children, no experience needed – we cater to beginners and experienced riders. Each day consists of one riding lesson, equine theory, games and daily pony care.
